The “Dear Luke Project” began as a way to support bereaved individuals by providing journals to adults and children in the community. Journaling can be a valuable and healing experience for grievers, since it can allow for the expression of emotions and thoughts when it is too difficult to verbalize them with others. Using journals to write letters to a loved one can also be beneficial. Drawing or doodling can assist in the expression of grief. Friendly Hearts Club participants utilize their journals by drawing or writing out memories, feelings, and/or thoughts about their experiences.
